Cabling Services

An essential part of the qolcom portfolio of product and service offerings is the supply, installation and maintenance of cabling infrastructures.
Despite our primary focus being the implementation of wireless infrastructures; it remains necessary for us to be capable of offering complete solutions in both wired and wireless environments. Wireless Access and Mobility Points still need to be cabled into existing or proposed infrastructures, this necessitates our having the ability to offer the complete solution.
No matter how large or small the project, qolcom has the engineers available to implement and maintain cabling infrastructures to the highest of standards using highly experienced and trained engineers.
Adherence to standards forms an essential part of our service offerings, predominantly in the implementation of cabling systems the following standards are adhered to:
- ISO/IEC 11801:2000 Generic Cabling for Customer Premises (Class D).
- EN50173:1998 Performance requirements of generic cabling systems.
- ANSI/TIA/EIA 568-A1 Commercial Building Telecommunications Wiring Standard.
- TIA/EIA – 568 – B – Addendum 2
- ANSI/TIA/EIA 586-B
- ISO/IEC 11801: CLASS E 2002
- ASNI/TIA/TSB67 Transmission Performance Specification for Field Testing Unshielded Twisted-Pair Cabling Systems.
- BS.7718 Codes of practice for the Installation of fibre optic cabling.
- 16th Edition IEEE regulations (BS.7671).
A structured cabling system provides a universal platform upon which an overall IT strategy is formed. A structured cabling system can support multiple voice, data, Wireless networking, video and multimedia systems regardless of their manufacture. A cabling system is only as good as its design, installation and administration
qolcom offers the following Cabling Services:
- UTP/STP (Category 5e & 6)
- Fibre Optic
- Voice multi-core
- Survey and Audit
In addition to the installation of network cabling systems QoLcom can supply extensive range of consumables on a box and ship basis direct to client premises.
Copper Cabling – Category 5E & 6
The most common technology used within the premise cabling arena is UTP/STP Copper cabling, our cabling engineers have a broad knowledge of various manufacturers (Avaya, 3M Volition, Systimax, Krone, Connectix, Siemons, and Maxxam) and termination technologies (RJ45 style, 110 systems, and crimp connection systems). All installations comply with the very latest standards and installation practises, qolcom can offer the complete range of UTP cabling including Shielded, internal/external grade and several low smoke options available in the various technologies (Cat 5, 5e & Cat 6)
Fibre Optic Cabling
qolcom supply, install, terminate and test Multimode and Singlemode, internal and external grade fibre optic cabling systems. All Fibre installations are 100% tested and test certificates are provided on completion.
Voice Cabling
The link cabling between the Telephony Termination point and the Structured Cabling host field will typically be a tie/multi-core system, qolcom provide voice cabling termination services ranging from a single 20pair link to 1000+ Multicore voice backbone links. Most voice systems are presented on either RJ45 patch panels, RS-232 (Krone Strip style within DP’s or Comms Cabinets) or Telco based systems.
